Balayage Questions
Can I get balayage on dark hair?
Yes, and it is one of our most requested looks. The honest part comes first. How light you can go in one visit depends on your starting color and hair health. We will show you what is achievable at your consultation, and we may suggest foilyage for extra lift or a gradual approach over more than one visit.
Why does balayage take so long?
Each section is painted by hand and timed on its own, so the lift lands where it should. It is real work, not a rush. The payoff is a longer gap between visits: one fuller appointment every 3-4 months instead of frequent short ones.
How long does balayage last?
Most clients refresh every 12-16 weeks because there is no harsh root line to fight. Some stretch longer. Compare that to traditional foil highlights, which often need attention every 6-8 weeks.
Will balayage work with my gray hair?
It depends on how much gray you need covered. Balayage does not cover roots the way traditional color does. If gray shows at your hairline, we may pair balayage with root color. Or we can use balayage to blend the transition gracefully. We choose the approach with you at the consultation.
How do I maintain my balayage between appointments?
A few habits keep it fresh. Use a color-safe, sulfate-free shampoo. Purple shampoo once a week stops brassiness on blonde tones. Cut back on heat and sun, which matters here in Texas. A gloss treatment between visits can refresh tone without a full color.
What’s the difference between balayage and foilyage?
Both are hand-painted. Balayage stays freehand for a softer, more subtle look. Foilyage wraps those painted sections in foil for more lift and brightness, which helps on darker hair. Many clients get a mix of the two, and we plan that around your hair at the consultation.
