Foil Highlight Questions
Will highlights damage my hair?
Any lightening affects the hair structure, but done right, it should not cause real damage. We use high-quality lighteners, match the formula to your hair, and watch the processing closely. Foils also keep lightener off the surrounding hair. When needed we add a conditioning treatment, and we plan around any damage you already have.
Can you match what I’m picturing?
That is exactly what the consultation is for. We talk through your goal, assess your starting color, and plan placement that flatters your face. Foils give us total control, so we can hit subtle face-framing pieces or dramatic contrast – and repeat it the next time.
How much does it cost?
Partial highlights start at $245; a full head is $355. Final price depends on density, how much contrast you want, and time needed. We confirm your price before we begin – no surprises at checkout.
What’s the difference between partial and full highlights?
Partial highlights cover the top layers – the crown, part line, and face-framing pieces – which is what people see most. Full highlights go through your entire head for all-over dimension. Three-quarter sits in between. At the consultation we recommend the coverage that reaches your goal.
How do I stop my highlights from turning brassy?
Brassiness shows when warm undertones come through, and Arlington’s sun and hard water speed it up. We tone to neutralize the warmth, and we’ll point you to a purple or blue shampoo for home. A gloss and toner treatment between visits also refreshes your tone.
How often do I need a touch-up?
Most foil clients come back every 6-10 weeks, depending on your growth and the contrast with your natural color. The stronger the contrast, the sooner regrowth shows. If you want longer stretches, balayage grows out more gradually, and we can set a standing appointment so your refresh is handled.
What if I want to go back to my natural color?
That is very doable and something we help clients with often. Depending on how light you went, we may lower your highlights over several visits, add lowlights to blend with your natural color, or create a balayage that grows out seamlessly. We plan the smoothest transition for you.
