Root Color Questions
Will you match my current color exactly?
Yes – precise matching is one of our specialties. We keep records of your color formula and check your hair at each visit for fading, sun, or product buildup. If you are switching from another salon and have formula info, bring it; otherwise we analyze your shade and build a custom match.
Can root color cover my gray completely?
Yes. We aim for coverage that looks natural, not flat or helmet-like. Resistant grays and softer grays need different formulas, so we tailor yours to your gray pattern. At the consultation we plan full coverage that still keeps dimension and movement.
How much does root color cost at Boncomb?
It is a flat $150. That includes the color consultation, precise color matching, expert application, processing and monitoring, a color-safe rinse and conditioning, plus a blowout and style. Everything included – you leave looking polished and ready for your day, no surprises at checkout.
Will my DIY root touch-up work instead?
Most DIY kits end up a shade off, because the box can’t read your exact formula or your fading. A professional match is built to your hair, and it blends instead of resting on top. At the consultation we can show you the difference and confirm the price before we start.
What’s the difference between root color and full color?
Root color only touches your new growth – about the first 1-2 inches. Full color covers your whole head from roots to ends. If you are happy with your current length and just need regrowth, root color is faster and gentler. If your ends have faded or you want a change, full color is the better fit.
How often should I get my roots done?
Most clients come back every 4-6 weeks, depending on your growth and the contrast between your natural color and your shade. Gray coverage tends to need more frequent visits than brunette-to-brunette touch-ups. We set your real schedule at the consultation, and a standing appointment makes it automatic.
Can I add highlights to my root color visit?
Yes – many clients pair root color with partial highlights for dimension, especially to brighten the face frame while keeping the base. Tell us when you book so we can allow the time, and we’ll advise whether to do both together or alternate them for your hair’s health.
How do I care for my roots between visits?
Use the color-safe products we recommend and wash with lukewarm water. If you swim, wet your hair with clean water before the pool to cut chlorine absorption, and shield your hair from Texas sun. These steps keep your color vivid until your next visit.
